China in 7, 10 or 14 days: build a feasible pace

Use consecutive nights, complete transfer days and explicit buffers for a first visit, a Yunnan focus or a family trip.

The short answer

Count usable days after arrival, departure and transfers, then choose fewer bases than the number of places you hope to see. The examples below are planning allocations, not booked or locally tested tours. They do not determine immigration permission or a guaranteed transfer.

7 days: keep a clear focus

Example outline for a Kunming/Dali focus: day 1 arrival and setup; day 2 a modest Kunming day; day 3 a checked move to Dali; days 4–5 one Dali base; day 6 return or move toward the confirmed departure point; day 7 departure. This works only if actual connections and the entry route support it; if not, keep one region.

  • Choose optional outings after transport is confirmed. Do not add a third accommodation base just to make a longer place list.

10 days: add depth before another move

Use the same arrival/setup and departure protection, then allocate more consecutive nights to your preferred base. One possible outline is 2 nights in the entry area, 5 nights in Dali and 2 nights near the onward departure area. Nights and days are different; change the allocation for the actual arrival time and route.

  • If considering one more region, replace some existing nights instead of treating the extra travel day as a full sightseeing day.

14 days: a wider choice, with costs visible

You can slow the two-base plan or compare one additional region. First estimate its door-to-door moves, accommodation changes and weather/access needs. For a first visit to several Chinese regions, choose the real intercity services before allocating daily attractions. This site does not invent a national timetable.

Run the feasibility check

  • Mark fixed legs, optional activities and unresolved facts separately. A train date or accommodation note you typed is not a booking.
  • Check exact stations, boarding/document needs, the last-mile transfer and the next check-in. Protect the essential departure before optional activities.
  • For solo travel, plan a late-arrival contact; for families, allow meal/rest and luggage time. Reduce activities where a required accessibility arrangement is unknown.

Common questions

Is a 10-day plan automatically eligible for 240-hour transit?

No. Duration is only one possible condition. Check your passport, complete route, ports and permitted areas with the official policy.

Why does my draft have fewer sights than an AI itinerary?

It accounts for complete moves and unresolved facts. You can add optional activities once actual connections, access and your preferred pace support them.
