China packing and offline preparation: power, language and readable backups

Check the charger label, domestic-flight power-bank rules, offline language files and the downloaded trip pack before travel.

The short answer

Pack for the actual places and transport, then test the important backups offline. Check the charger’s input range and the outlet; an adapter changes plug fit, not voltage. A downloaded trip pack preserves text and addresses, not live maps, payments or official submission.

Power and transport checks

  • China’s standard voltage is 220 V. Read the appliance’s own input label and confirm the exact socket with the stay if necessary. If voltage compatibility is unclear, ask the manufacturer rather than plugging it in to test.
  • For a domestic flight, CAAC’s published rule restricts power banks with absent/unclear CCC markings or recalled models/batches. Check current airline battery and baggage instructions as well; do not assume international-arrival rules cover an onward domestic leg.
  • For trains, check the actual restricted-item and baggage instructions in the official service. Transport rules and hotel storage capacity are different questions.

Language and dietary communication

  • Download supported language files on a reliable connection, then test a short typed sentence offline. Save the original Chinese address so translation does not replace the location.
  • For a dietary restriction or allergy, use a carefully checked statement that describes what must be avoided and ask the actual food provider about ingredients and cross-contact. Machine translation alone cannot establish safety.
  • Keep any medical action plan agreed with your clinician separately and privately. This site provides communication preparation, not clinical advice.

Test the actual downloaded file

  • Save your chosen tool results, trip assumptions, source dates and non-sensitive address text in My Trip, then download the standalone HTML.
  • Open that file, switch the test device offline and inspect the text and Chinese characters. External links and live service actions still require a connection.
  • Keep an independent copy you can find without this browser. Printing opens a print dialog; verify the resulting print or PDF before calling it a backup.

If saving or downloading fails

Local storage may be blocked, damaged or cleared. A visible result is not necessarily saved. Read the site’s status, retry where offered or copy the important text to a private file. If a download is blocked, use the supported browser file or print action and verify the actual output. Do not assume cross-device recovery.

Common questions

Is my whole trip available offline?

Only the data included in the downloaded readable file. Bookings, official forms, websites and live navigation retain their own connectivity requirements.

Will a universal adapter convert voltage?

An ordinary plug adapter does not. Check your device’s rated input and manufacturer advice; do not infer electrical compatibility from physical fit.
